A little help from Zoomers

Frequently asked questions.

From choosing a class to planning your first lesson, here are a few answers to help you get started.

Classes & getting started

What’s the difference between Segment 1 and Segment 2?

Segment 1 begins teen driver education with classroom, driving, and observation instruction. Segment 2 is a later classroom course after supervised practice. Compare the classes.

How old do I need to be to start?

Michigan’s minimum age for Segment 1 is 14 years and 8 months. See Segment 1 details.

When can I take Segment 2?

You must hold a Level 1 license for three consecutive months and log 30 supervised driving hours, including two at night. See Segment 2 details.

How long are the courses?

Segment 1 requires at least 24 classroom hours over three or more weeks, six driving hours, and four observation hours. Segment 2 requires at least six classroom hours. Confirm your session calendar and driving appointments with Zoomers.

Enrollment & lessons

How do I sign up, and what does it cost?

Start with our Classes page, then contact us to confirm current tuition, available dates, and enrollment steps. Ask what the price includes and when payment is due before registering.

What should I have ready before enrolling?

Have the student’s name, age, contact information, preferred course, and availability ready. Include a parent or guardian for a teen inquiry. Our team will explain which documents are needed for your course.

Can I book private lessons or get extra practice?

Contact us with your age, current permit or license status, and the skills you want to practice. We can discuss lesson options, eligibility, pricing, and availability.

What if I miss a class or need to reschedule?

Contact us as soon as possible. Make-up sessions, cancellations, refunds, and rescheduling depend on your enrollment agreement. Ask our team to explain the policy before you book.

Location & next steps

Where is Zoomers Driving Academy?

You’ll find us at 30106 Ford Rd, Garden City, MI 48135. Confirm the meeting point for your specific class or driving lesson. View our map and contact details.

Does finishing the course mean I can drive alone?

No. Course completion is one part of Michigan’s licensing process. You must meet the remaining license and driving skills test requirements before independent driving.

Who can help me choose the right class?
